Always test content in your development environment

If you work in multiple environments, it’s a good practice to publish your content on your test or development environment before deploying it in production.

Organize content using Tags

Adding relevant Tags is a great way to keep your guides accessible and easy to find for other content creators.

For more information, see Segmentation Attributes.

Display specific content to users across all roles

To ensure specific content is visible to users across all roles, you must create a Global Role Tag and apply it to all content. The Global Role tag can be based on a condition that is always satisfied, such as checking if the URL contains com or in. Applying the tag to all content ensures that the content is visible to all users, regardless of their roles, as the condition holds true on every page for all users.

For more information, see Segmentation Attributes.

Note:

If your account has multiple Global tags, select the one with the highest value. For example, if the tags in your account are Global-Page, Global-Page_1, and Global-Page_2, content should be tagged with Global-Page_2. For more information on viewing the Global tags available in your account, see How can I view the Global tags created in my account?

Use contrasting colors for Whatfix widgets

Use contrasting colors for Whatfix widgets to make them stand out or noticeable on the website. Make sure that your widgets are not lost on your interface.

Use the contrast checker available on the site to help you decide: https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/

Monitor the content performance using Whatfix Analytics

Remember to configure Whatfix Analytics to find out how your content is faring. Are your users completing tasks? Which step are they getting stuck at? What search terms do not give any results? Track the data and use it to improve the performance of your content.

Use folders to organize content on Dashboard

For better content management on Whatfix Dashboard, use folders to group different content and widgets into specific folders. For instance, organize content into folders to display it to end users who belong to the same user roles, geography, and more.

Use Advanced Search option to prioritize content search

Locate specific content pieces with the help of Advanced Search on Whatfix Dashboard. To further filter the type of content you want to view, select Filter to sort and select the content. For instance, use the Advanced Search to locate Flows on the Dashboard.

Export content list

Export the list of content in Draft or Ready or Production stage. You can also choose the Export by date option.

Export production package

Whatfix content can easily be exported as production package and deployed from your servers. Self-Hosting is useful when you are on an internal network and cannot access the content from Whatfix cloud or in cases when your IT security doesn't permit resource loading from remote servers.
