Only users with the Administrator role who has API token access enabled can generate the API token.

Enable API tokens

Use the following steps to enable API tokens in Zendesk:

Go to the Admin Center, and in the left panel, click Apps and Integrations.
Under APIs, click Zendesk API.
Select the Terms of Service checkbox, and then click Get started.
Under Settings, enable the Token access toggle.

Use the following steps to generate API tokens in Zendesk:

Go to the Admin Center, and in the left panel, click Apps and Integrations.
Under APIs, click Zendesk API.
In the Settings section, next to Active API tokens, click Add API token.
Enter an API token description.
Click Copy to copy the API token.
Click Save.
