Article summary

Funnel Insights enable you visualize your Workflows and identify where your end users spend more time or drop off in the Mirror. Use these insights to understand learner behavior in the mirrored application.

For example, in a “Lead-to-Opportunity” Workflow, you can see if your users face friction while adding products.

Note:

Whatfix automatically generates Funnel Insights for the Workflows you create. Funnel Insights automatically update to reflect any changes in the Workflow. To access the auto-generated insight, go to the Product Analytics dashboard.

Understand the Funnel modules

Funnels are built using the following modules:

  1. Add funnel steps

  2. User filter

  3. Time taken to complete the funnel

Add funnel steps

Whatfix enables you to create a Funnel using Flows, Workflows, Custom events, and Page view.

  • Flows: A Flow created in the Mirror provides step-by-step guidance that enables your end user to complete a Mirror Workflow.

  • Workflows: A Workflow is a sequence of captured Mirror Screens representing a specific user journey or process.

  • Custom events: A Custom event represents specific interactions or triggers configured in Mirror, such as User Actions. Combine these events in a Funnel Insight to analyze user behavior and identify stages where users spend more time or drop off.

  • Page view: Add the exact URL of the specific Mirror screen to measure how many users reach that screen and where they exit the Workflow.

    Info:

Whatfix enables you to create Funnels with only Page View as well.

User filter

User filters enable you to narrow down the data shown by applying conditions based on user properties, such as browser, operating system, city, or country. For more information on User filters that can be added to Funnels, see Filter Insights data using User filters and User breakdown in Mirror.

Example: For a specific Workflow, refine the results to show data only for those who interacted with the Funnel events from the Chrome browser or from a specific cohort.

Note:

Time taken to complete the funnel

With Select completion time, create a Productivity Funnel and filter your learners based on the time they take to complete the Funnel steps. It considers the fastest time taken between each Funnel step per user, averaged across all users. This can help you understand:

  • The number of users completing a process within the expected time or the shortest time possible.

  • The point of friction in the process is preventing learners from completing the process within the expected time.

Users can be filtered based on the number of days, hours, or minutes they take to complete the Funnel. For example, filter learners who complete a process in less than five minutes.

Info:

The completion time filter is applied to all steps in a Funnel.

Steps to create a Funnel Insight

Use the following steps to create a Funnel Insight for a Mirror Workflow:

  1. On the Whatfix Analytics Dashboard, click Insights.

  2. Click Create insights.

  3. Click Funnel Insights.

  4. Click the Give your insight a name text box to enter a name for your Insight.

  5. Click the Description text box and enter a description that explains what the Funnel Insight is about.

Info:

  • The Description gives you context about the created Insight when added to a Dashboard.

  • It also enables other stakeholders to understand what data the Insight depicts while viewing Dashboards created by other team members.

  1. Click the Select user type dropdown.

  2. From the Select user type dropdown menu, choose whether to analyze data for All users, Identified users, or Anonymous users.

Note:

  • By default, Insights data may contain identified (users identified by User ID) and unidentified (users not identified but denoted by Anonymized Whatfix IDs) users.

  • The Event identification rate indicates the percentage of events Whatfix is able to attribute to uniquely identified users.

  1. Click the Data source icon, and then select the stage from which you want to get the data.

    Info:

By default, only data from the Production stage is shown. If you want to get data from other stages, you need to configure them on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard. For more information, see Get Analytics Data across CLM Stages.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Click Workflows.

    Info:

    • Add Flows, Custom events, or Page views similarly.

    • Whatfix enables you to add a combination of Flows, Workflows, Custom events, or Page views to your Funnel.

  4. Click the required Workflow.

  5. Click All steps.

    Note:

The steps must be sequential, as the data for each step depends on the completion of the previous step.

  6. Click Apply.

  7. In the User filter section, click Add user filter, and then select the desired filter.

Info:

  1. Go to the Time taken to complete the funnel section, and then click Select completion time.

  2. In the dialog box, select your time condition, and then click Apply.

Note:

  • A Funnel becomes a Productivity Funnel when you add the completion time.

  • The Funnel can be filtered only with the Less than condition.

Info:

Click Close to discard the Insight.

  1. Click Save.

Note:

  • Filter data based on Daily, Weekly, and Monthly timeframes.

  • Click Summarize to generate an AI summary of the Funnel Insight. This helps you interpret the data more easily and understand key patterns. You need to enable Ask Whatfix AI to get the AI summary.

  • Deleting a Workflow from the Whatfix Mirror dashboard also removes it from the Funnel. This behavior also applies to Flows and User Actions.
