Article summary

Whatfix Mirror enables you to create an Assessment of the Workflows in a Simulation. Use an Assessment to evaluate how accurately and independently your users complete the Workflows in that Simulation. Mirror also captures performance metrics and displays analytics that reveal how your users interact with each Workflow.

For example, you can create an Assessment for five crucial Workflows that your users must complete as part of their training program. Additionally, you can choose whether to require completion of all Workflows for full compliance or set a Pass criteria that defines how many Workflows users must complete to demonstrate proficiency. This ensures that only users who meet the proficiency requirement complete the training.

Note:

  • Only users with Account Manager and Content Manager roles can access and view the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.

  • Assessments are supported only for Simulations. They do not apply to individual Workflows. To assess a specific Workflow or multiple Workflows, add it to a Simulation first. For more information, see Create Simulations and add Mirror Workflows.

  • You can create an Assessment only in the Draft and Ready stages.

Expand the following accordions for more details:

Create a Simulation and add Workflows

Use the following steps to create a Simulation and add Workflows:

  1. On the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard, click Create simulation.

  2. In the Create simulation dialog box, enter a name for the Simulation.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Select the Workflow(s) that you want to add to the Assessment.

  5. Click Move to Simulation.

  6. Click the Simulation where you want to move the selected Workflow(s).

  7. Click Move.

    Note:

When you add Workflows to a Simulation, Whatfix Mirror enables Playground Mode by default, which connects the Workflows in the Simulation and enables your users to move freely between them. The Playground Mode setting you configure in the Simulation automatically applies to the Assessment.

    • When Playground Mode is enabled, users move between interconnected Workflows within the Assessment to complete Workflows that test adaptability and reflect real-world variations.

    • When Playground mode is disabled, users must complete each Workflow in a defined sequence before moving to the next, following a fixed path where Workflows are not interconnected.

For more information, see Understand Playground Mode.

Add and Configure an Assessment

Use the following steps to add and configure an Assessment:

  1. Click the Simulation for which you want to create the Assessment.

  2. Click Add assessment.

    Info:

A dialog box opens with the Assessment tab, where you can configure the Assessment settings.

  3. Under the Assessment tab, click Select starting point and choose the Workflow where the Assessment begins. The first screen of the selected Workflow appears as the starting point when users begin the Assessment. This screen serves as the landing page for your users.

  4. Click Set pass/fail criteria and specify how many Workflows users must complete to pass the Assessment. For example, if the Assessment includes five Workflows, set the criteria to Complete 4 of 5 Workflows to qualify as a pass.

Info:

Set the Pass criteria for the Assessment. You can choose from the following options:

  • 100%: Users must complete all Workflows in the Assessment to achieve a passing score. Use this option when you require your users to complete every Workflow for certification or compliance.

  • Custom: Specify the number of Workflows users must complete to pass the Assessment. Use this option when you want to measure proficiency based on how many Workflows users complete.

Note:

  • To display a welcome message at the start and a completion message at the end of the Assessment, enable the Customize start and end screen pop-up toggle.

  • You can then add personalized messages for your users. For example, display a start screen message at the beginning of the Assessment with short instructions, such as “Welcome to the Training Assessment! Complete all Workflows to finish your training and receive your certificate.” At the end of the Assessment, display an end screen message, such as “You’ve successfully completed the Assessment.”

  1. Click Create assessment.

    Info:

    • Whatfix automatically creates a Task List for the Assessment to help your users track their progress and names it in the following format: Auto_AssessmentTasklist_<Assessment ID>.

    • Whatfix also creates an Auto Tag for the Task List that cannot be removed or edited. The tag appears in the following format: Auto_Assessment_Tag_<Assessment ID>.

    • Whatfix does not recommend editing the Task List, as it can introduce inconsistencies in the Assessment experience. This includes actions such as renaming the Task List, adding or removing tasks, or moving the Task List across stages.

Note:

  • Preview the Assessment to verify the end-user experience before you share the Assessment. For more information, see Preview an Assessment.

  • Once you preview the Assessment and confirm the end-user experience, share the Assessment to evaluate how effectively your end users complete tasks without guidance. For more information, see Share an Assessment.

  • When you share an Assessment, Whatfix generates insights to track your end users’ performance. For more information, see Assessment Analytics.
