Whatfix Autocapture captures only click events. Autocapture does not track events that are triggered by hovering the cursor, typing text, or pressing a key on the keyboard. Use Whatfix User Actions to track events triggered by hovering the cursor or typing text, or to capture Event Attributes.
Use the following steps to create User Actions in the Autocapture experience:
Log in to your application, and then launch the Whatfix Studio.
Under EVENTS, click Track event.
Click Refresh page.
Note:
Whatfix refreshes the page, and the Preview Mode is enabled.
In Whatfix Studio, click Define event.
On the page, select the element you want to track.
Note:
Whatfix shows the Defined Autocaptured events and User Actions in blue. Before selecting the element, ensure that it is not already captured as an Autocaptured event or a User Action. For more information on viewing the named events, see View Autocaptured events.
In Whatfix Studio, preview the event.
Note:
The interaction is 0 for events that are not Autocaptured.
If the event’s trigger type is click, you don’t have to create it as a User Action. Enter a name for the event and click Save Action.
Events that are not Autocaptured need to be pushed to Production.
Click More Options.
Click Create user action.
Note:
Whatfix Studio changes to the User Action creation experience.
Create the User Action as usual and save it.
Note:
Verify the User Actions and push the User Actions to Production.
If you want to capture Event Attributes (Beta feature) from the Autocapture experience, create a User Action as shown in this article, and then capture Event Attributes from the User Action.
Event Attributes also need to be pushed to Production.
