Whatfix enables you to filter both identified and anonymous (unidentified) users in Enterprise Insights' (EI) Trend Insights using the User type filter and determine the Event identification rate.
Filtering based on user type (identified and anonymous users) enables you to get accurate data. Event identification rate (% of events attributed to unique users) shows how many events can be tied back to known users.

User type filter
User Identification enables Whatfix to identify unique users interacting with Whatfix content. This helps you get user-level analytics data. User-level engagement data contains both users identified with a User ID and Anonymized Whatfix IDs.
Whatfix enables you to filter users based on the following filters:
All users: Shows overall behavior and engagement for both identified and anonymous (unidentified) users.
Identified users: Users that Whatfix can detect and identify using a unique User ID.
Anonymous or unidentified users: Users that Whatfix cannot identify. These users are denoted by the Anonymized Whatfix IDs rather than an actual User ID.
Anonymized Whatfix IDs may appear in Enterprise Insights data due to one of the following reasons:
- If the user logs in and logs out of the application before Whatfix can identify the user with the configured User ID.
- If the user accesses a page where the window variable that enables Whatfix to capture the User ID is not available.
- If the user identification is not set up correctly.
If Anonymized Whatfix IDs are included as part of your analytics data due to any of the reasons mentioned above, it may result in incorrect engagement data.
Currently, the Select user type filter is only available for Trend Insights in EI.
Event identification rate
The Event identification rate denotes the percentage of events that Whatfix can tie back to uniquely identified users for the last 30 days.
The following are some sample use cases where unidentified users are filtered or removed from the analytics data:
Analyze the number of identified users who viewed a specific article in Salesforce grouped by country using Trend Insights.
User type filter: Identified users
Event: Article viewed
Applications: Salesforce
Event Filter: Content Title = Name of the article
User breakdown: Country
Analyze the number of identified users who completed Flows across applications using Trend Insights.
User type filter: Identified users
Event: Flow completed
Event Breakdown: Applications
If there are no user identifiers available in applications (applications without any login functionality), and Whatfix cannot identify the user, select the Anonymous users option to view the engagement data of users.
