App initial load time refers to the time delay that Whatfix allows before it starts its operations, such as displaying Smart Tips. This is particularly relevant when Smart Tips needs to load within an iframe, which might have its own loading time separate from the main application.
By default, Whatfix sets this initial load time to 10 milliseconds (ms). However, this value can be adjusted to suit the specific loading requirements of the application where Whatfix is being used. If the application or the iframe takes longer to load, use this option to increase the app initial load time. This ensures that Whatfix’s element detection logic does not start before the application is ready. This helps in avoiding any potential misalignment between the Smart Tips and the application elements they are meant to assist with.
Use the following steps to configure an extended load time for Smart Tips in an iframe:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.
-
Click Advanced customisation.
-
Click Technical configuration.
-
Click Add preferences.
-
Click Smart Tip.
-
Select the App Initial Load Time checkbox.
-
Click Add.
-
In the App Initial Load Time Value field, enter the desired time in milliseconds.
Ensure that load time is not delayed too much and that it is balanced so that there Smart Tips do not appear too late thus impacting your user experience.
- Click Save.
