Introducing Free-floating steps in Flows

What is new?

Free-floating Flow steps provide a flexible way to engage users and deliver important information, without the need for element latching on your application.

Why does it matter to me?

Besides the usual element latched Flow steps, Free-floating steps are an add-on to the Flow step types. These steps appear as customizable dialog boxes, typically in the center of the page. The steps can be further positioned flexibly.

Use Free-floating step types in Flows for:

  • Initial welcome or onboarding: Greet users with a clean, central message when they start a Flow.

  • Disclaimers or consent forms: Present legal disclaimers, cookie consent, or terms and conditions acceptance clearly.

  • Contextual information: Provide quick explanations before users proceed with a task, even when no specific element needs highlighting.

This means you can provide crucial information or gather input at any point in a user's journey, independent of the application's interface, leading to a more informative user experience.

How do I do this?

Free-floating Flow steps are currently in Beta. To enable this feature, contact support@whatfix.com.

For more information, see Create Free-floating Flow steps.

Live Edit in Whatfix Diagnostics

What is new?

Diagnostics in Studio now supports live editing, enabling content authors to act on recommended fixes directly within the testing workflow. This is supported for Flow steps, Beacons, Smart tips, Launchers, and Blockers.

Why does it matter to me?

Previously, when Diagnostics identified issues with content such as a Beacon not appearing due to Visibility Rule mismatches, you had to go back to the Dashboard, open the content, and reselect the target element manually. This slowed down your workflow and added unnecessary steps.

With Live Edit, you can now instantly act on recommended fixes such as updating the CSS selector or adjusting visibility conditions, without switching platforms. This makes issue resolution significantly faster and smoother.

For example, if you have configured Beacons for your application and a step fails due to an incorrect selector, you can now fix it directly within the Diagnostics Panel, no switching between Dashboard and Studio required.

How do I do this?

Live Edit in Diagnostics is currently a Beta feature. For more information, see Troubleshoot content using Live Edit in Whatfix Diagnostics.

Intent Sense in Advanced Visibility Rules

What is new?

Intent Sense in Advanced Visibility Rules enables you to show content and widgets based on real-time analysis of user input. It uses AI to detect user intent, such as dissatisfaction or a need for help, by evaluating text entered in fields such as feedback forms. This enables you to deliver relevant, timely guidance that improves user experience and engagement.

Why does it matter to me?

Understanding user intent and delivering context-specific content is essential for improving the in-app experience. The new Intent Sense rule in Advanced Visibility Rules helps you do just that. It analyzes the text users enter into specific fields, such as feedback forms, and detects intent in real time. This intent can include dissatisfaction or a need for help. Based on this evaluation, it helps you display relevant content or widgets, such as Smart Tips, Beacons, Launchers, Pop-ups, and more, on the application.

How do I do this?

Intent Sense is a Beta feature available as part of Whatfix’s AI Adoption offering. For more information, see Show content using Intent Sense.
