Note:
Blocker is a Beta feature, supported only for cloud deployments. For more information, contact support@whatfix.com.
Overview
Whatfix enables you to create a Blocker on a Mirror simulation to gate learner interaction with a specific element and surface a tooltip that guides them toward the correct action. A Visible Blocker shows its tooltip when learners hover their cursor over the element, and an Invisible Blocker shows it on click.
For example, you can create a Blocker on a Mirror simulation to stop learners from skipping a required step, prompting them with the correct action they need to complete before moving forward.
For more information, see What is a Blocker?
Use Cases
Use Blockers to implement the following use cases:
Enforce a sequence by restricting interaction until learners complete the intended step.
Guide learners back on track when they attempt an incorrect action during the simulation.
Keep learners focused on the current task by limiting interactions to the relevant UI elements.
Create a Blocker
Expand the following accordions for more details:
Step-1: Create a Blocker
Use the following steps to create a Blocker collection:
Log in to the application where you want to create content, and then launch Whatfix Studio.

Under CONTENT, click Blocker.

Enter a name for the Blocker Collection.

Info:
A Blocker collection is a group of Launchers and are usually on the same page.
The Blocker collection name is solely for your (creator's) reference and is not visible to your learners.
Visibility Rules are defined at the Blocker collection level. Consequently, a Blocker must belong to a collection in order to be displayed, even when only a single Blocker is present on a page.
Click Add Blocker to create a new Blocker.

Select an element on the application where the Blocker must appear.

Select the required Blocker type based on your requirement, either Invisible blocker or Visible blocker. For more information, see Types of Blockers.

Under Appearance, select the required theme and color for the Blocker.

Info:
Whatfix enables you to customize the appearance of a Blocker in the following ways:
For an Invisible blocker, you can change only the Tooltip type, Color, Close (X) icon, and Close (X) icon color.
For a Visible blocker, you can choose not only the Tooltip type, Color, Close (X) icon, and Close (X) icon color, but also the Opacity and Gray filter of the Blocker.

Enter a description for the Blocker.

Info:
The Blocker description is visible your learners when they hover their cursor over the element.
In the Visibility Rules, enter the required visibility rules for the Blocker. Visibility Rules enable you to configure Blockers only when pre-determined conditions are met. For more information, see Understand New Visibility Rules for Content and Configure Where DAP Guidance Appears.

Click Save.

Info:
To add more Blockers, click Add Blocker, and then repeat steps 5 to 10.

Note:
Once you have created the Blocker collection, it is automatically created on your Whatfix Guidance Dashboard. For more information, see Overview of the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard.
Step-2: Configure the Visibility Rules for the Blocker
Use the following steps to configure visibility rules for a Blocker:
On the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard, click Content.

Click Blockers.

Hover your cursor over the Blocker collection you want to configure, and then click Edit.

Click Collection Visibility.

Expand the Where does the blockers collection Rules appear? section, and configure URL and Page tags. For more information, see Set Where your Content or Widget appears with the New Visibility Rules.

Expand the When does the blockers collection Rules start and stop appearing? section, and configure when you want to start showing the Blocker. For more information, see Set When your Content or Widget Appears with the new Visibility Rules.

Expand the Who does the blockers collection Rules appear to? section, and configure who you want to show your content to. For more information, see Set Who can see your Content or Widget with the New Visibility Rules.

Click Save.

Note:
To display the Blocker on your Mirror simulation, you must move both the Blocker from the Draft stage to the Production stage before you share them with your learners. Publish the Blocker on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard and the Mirror simulation on the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.
For more information, see Publish all Whatfix content and widgets to Production and Publish Whatfix Mirror.
