Whatfix enables you to upload a CSV file with a list of User IDs and create a User list for targeting or analysing user behavior.
Use the User List in the following ways:
Add the User List as a Visibility Rule to target Whatfix widgets.
Add the User List as a filter in Insights and Dashboards to drill down on user behavior.
Create a Cohort using the User List to group users in the User List based on their actions and behavior. For example, identify Sales team members who engaged with a new feature.

Note:
Whatfix enables you to add the Cohorts you create with a User List and other rules as Visibility Rules or User filters.
Use cases
Find out how many new users completed an onboarding Task List.
Identify the number of premium users who engaged with a new reporting feature.
The following article shows you how to create a User List for the Sales team.
Use the following steps to create a User list:
- On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, click Audience.

- Click User lists.

Click Create user list.

Enter a name for your User list. For example, Sales team.

Click Download CSV template file to download a sample file.

Info:
The sample CSV file is downloaded to your local drive with the name user_list_template.csv and it appears as follows.

Open the downloaded CSV file. Under the header userId, list the User IDs one below the other.

Note:
The User IDs in your CSV must exactly match the IDs configured in Whatfix for identifying users. For example, if you’re using email IDs to uniquely identify users, the same email IDs must be included in the CSV file.
Ensure that you do not remove or rename the userId header in the CSV file.
Whatfix enables you to upload a CSV file with up to 40,000 rows.
Save the file with a name of your choice. For example, Sales.csv.
On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, drag and drop or choose the CSV file from the local drive to upload the User list.

Info:
If your file is uploaded successfully, Whatfix denotes it by a green checkmark.

If there are any errors in the file (such as the file not being in .csv format, the userId header being removed, or the file having more than one column), the file is not uploaded and Whatfix displays the following message. Resolve the errors and re-upload the file.

Click the Delete icon to remove the file.

Click Save and continue.

Note:
Once uploaded, the User list appears in the listing page.

Check the User count column to see the number of users.

Click the User list to view the list of users added.

Use the search bar within the User list to find specific users by their User ID.

Info:
Click Edit within the User list to add a description to the User list.

Enter a description that explains the purpose of the User list, and then click Save.
