Use Funnel Insights to visualize User Actions, Flows, and Page View and see where your users are facing friction in the application.
Funnels are built using the following modules:
- Funnel Steps
- Event Trigger Location
- User Filter
- Time taken to complete the funnel
Funnel Steps
Create a Funnel using Flows, Custom Events and Page View.
Custom Events contain all the events that are set up, such as User Actions, events captured using the Whatfix API, and more.
Page View enables you to add the exact URL of a page to understand how many users are visiting the page. The URL can be the origin of the Funnel or the URL that a user is redirected to when they interact with a Flow or User Action that are part of a Funnel.
Whatfix enables you to also create Funnels with only Page View.
Event Trigger Location
Event Trigger Location enables you to select the location from where a Flow is played.
For example, you want to understand the engagement and usage of Self Help. And you want to consider only those users who have played a particular Flow from Self Help widget to understand the engagement.
Event Trigger Location is applicable only for Flows.
User Filter
Using the User Filter module, you can limit the scope of the Funnel events based on different criteria. It helps you gain granular insights by filtering data based on user attributes such as browser, city, country, OS, and more.
For example, for a particular Funnel event (Flow or User Action), you can refine the results to show data only for those who interacted with the Funnel event from the Chrome browser or from a specific location.
For more information on the User Filters that can be added to Funnels, see User Filters in Insights.
You can choose to exclude specific filter values for which you don't require data. For more information, see How can I exclude filter values in Product Analytics?
Time taken to complete the funnel
With Select Completion Time, create a Productivity Funnel and filter your users based on the time they take to complete the Funnel steps. It considers the fastest time taken between each Funnel step per user, averaged across all users. This can help you understand:
- The number of users completing a process within the expected time or the shortest time possible.
- The points of friction in the process that is preventing users from completing a process within the expected time.
Users can be filtered based on the number of days, hours, or minutes they take to complete the Funnel. For example, you can filter users who complete a process in less than an hour.
The completion time filter is applied to all the steps in a Funnel.
Steps to create a Funnel
There are two types of Funnels that you can create:
- Conversion Funnel
- Productivity Funnel
If you add the Completion Time for a Funnel, then it becomes a Productivity Funnel.
For more information, see What are Funnels?
Use the following steps to create a Funnel:
- On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, click Insights.
-
On the top right, click Create Insights.
-
Click Funnel Insights.
-
Click the Edit icon to name your Funnel.
-
Enter a Description that helps explain what the Funnel is about.
- The Description gives you context about the created Insight when added to a Dashboard.
- It also enables other stakeholders to understand what data the Insight depicts while viewing Dashboards created by other team members.
- To add your Flows, Custom Events, and Page View, in the Add Funnel Steps section, click Add.
Here's a GIF that shows you how you can add steps to your Funnel.
- You can add up to 50 events to a Funnel.
- Ensure that the User Actions represent a sequential process or a task. The User Actions must be selected in the same sequence.
It is not mandatory to add the Trigger Location for your Flows.
- In the User Filter section, click Add User Filter, and then select the filter that you want.
You can choose to exclude specific filter values for which you don't require data. For more information, see How can I exclude filter values in Product Analytics?
In the Time taken to complete the funnel section, click Select Completion Time, if you want to create a Productivity Funnel.
- In the dialog box, select your condition.
- Click Save.
Once you delete a User Action or a Flow from the Dashboard, it is removed from the Funnel as well.
