Note:
Cue is a Beta feature, supported only for cloud deployments. To enable this feature, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Overview
Whatfix enables you to create a Cue on a Mirror simulation to place a subtle visual signal on a Mirror Screen that nudges learners toward the next element or action without interrupting their practice. The Cue acts as a lightweight indicator that directs attention.
For example, you can create a Cue on a Mirror simulation to indicate where learners should click next on a multi-step screen, so they move through the Workflow with minimal hesitation.
For more information, see What is a Cue?
Use Cases
Use Cues to implement the following use cases:
Guide learners toward the next interactive element during a simulated task.
Reduce hesitation at transition points by signaling where to focus.
Direct learners to the correct element or intended path through a Workflow without displaying a full instructional message.
Create a Cue
Expand the following accordions for more details:
Step-1: Create a Cue
Use the following steps to create a Cue collection:
Log in to the application where you want to create content, and then launch Whatfix Studio.

Under CONTENT, click Cues.

Enter a name for the Cues collection.

Info:
A Cues collection is a group of Cues and are usually on the same page.
The Cues collection name is solely for your (creator's) reference and is not visible to your learners.
Visibility Rules are defined at the Cues collection level. Consequently, a Cue must belong to a collection in order to be displayed, even when only a single Cue is present on a page.
Click Add Cue to create a new Cue.

Enter a Heading for the Cue. In this example, the Cue identifies a high-value opportunity with no recent activity and prompts the seller to follow up with the customer.

Enter a description for the Cue.

Click Add button. It is mandatory for the Cue to contain at least one button

Info:
Whatfix enables you to add up to two buttons to a Cue.
Enter a name for the button. In this example, the button opens an Automated Flow, which launches Copilot, inserts a predefined prompt, and helps draft an outreach email that progresses the deal.

Under Action, select the required button action from the dropdown.

The following table lists the different types of Button Actions, their behaviors, and descriptions:
Button Action
Behavior
Submit Prompt
Executes a predefined prompt through an Automated Flow. When end users click the Cue button, the Flow starts automatically and inserts the prompt into an input field during execution. This enables you to reuse the same Flow while executing different prompts from different Cues.
Example: Use this action when a Cue appears on an opportunity record worth over $100K that shows "Negotiation" stage for more than 14 days. When the account executive clicks "Draft Proposal Email," the Flow automatically opens AI agent, submits the prompt "Draft a proposal email highlighting our competitive advantages, addressing common pricing objections, and including a clear call-to-action for contract review," and generates a personalized email to move the deal forward.
For more information, see Submit a Prompt from a Cue.
Open Flow
Launches a Whatfix Flow directly from the Cue to guide end users through a step-by-step process.
Example: Use the action when a Cue identifies a key moment, such as an overdue opportunity or incomplete field, and guides end users through the next steps using a Whatfix Flow.
Open Popup
Opens a Whatfix Popup when the Cue button is clicked.
Example: Use this action when a Cue highlights a new feature and needs to display quick instructions to the end user.
Open Link
Redirects end users to an external link.
Example: Use the action when a Cue surfaces helpful reference material, such as documentation, templates, or policy pages, and needs to direct end users to an external resource.
Note:
You need to add your links on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard as a Static content before using them in Cues. For more information, see Create a Link.
Open Video
Plays a video.
Example: Use the action when a Cue appears during a complex workflow and needs to show a quick how-to or training video to help end users complete the task.
Note
You need to upload your videos on the Whatfix dashboard as a Static content before using them in Cues. For more information, see Upload Videos to your Dashboard.
Open Survey
Launches a Whatfix Survey.
Example: Use this action after a task completion to gather feedback on the workflow experience.
No Action
Does not trigger any interactive response, such as Flow, Link, or Pop-up.
Example: Use the action when a Cue needs to inform or remind end users, such as highlighting a best practice or providing a nudge, without opening any additional content.
Preview the Cue and make any changes if required.

Click VISIBILITY RULES.

In the VISIBILITY RULES section, enter the required visibility rules for the Cue. Visibility Rules enable you to configure Cues only when pre-determined conditions are met. For more information, see Understand New Visibility Rules for Content and Configure Where DAP Guidance Appears.

Click Save.

Info:
To add more Blockers, click Add Cues, and then repeat steps 5 to 13.
