Whatfix Mirror is an innovative solution that enables organizations to simulate any web application. The simulations can then be used for various use cases, such as user training and onboarding.
End users can interact with the content within a simulated environment. This facilitates user training and task completion as it provides step-by-step guidance in an isolated environment. This eliminates the risk of unwanted errors in the live application.
Prerequisites:
- The Mirror workflows that you create appear in the Draft stage of the Whatfix Mirror dashboard.
- Workflows that are in Ready and Production are not visible on Whatfix Studio.
Use the following steps to create a Whatfix Mirror:
-
Log in to the application that you want to simulate and then launch Whatfix Studio.
-
Click Mirror.
-
Click Start Mirroring.
Mirror Screens are auto linked as you perform the actions when creating the Mirror. The capture process functions similarly to a screen recording. To start screen capture, simply begin performing the desired interactions with the web application. Mirror automatically links the Mirror Screens.
- Select the UI element to capture the screen.
- The captured screens are automatically linked within your Mirror workflows. Select the relevant UI elements to define the flow of your content and then perform the workflow steps you want to train your end users on.
- Whatfix automatically captures the necessary screens as you progress.
- Go to the next step you want to capture and then repeat step 4.
Whatfix enables you to add additional screens to an existing Workflow. This caters to situations where you may have identified additional steps within your workflow that require user guidance after the initial mirroring is completed.
If you want to add additional screens, click Add more screens.
- Each Mirror Screen is captured based on a single UI element.
- The selected UI element represents an interactive element in the web application. Clicking it may also trigger navigation or an action within the live web application. This is expected behavior, as the UI element selection process essentially interacts with the live application to define the capture area.
- Based on your requirement, you can select multiple UI elements as a sequence of screens. Whatfix then displays the screens in the order of capture. If you want to change the order of the Mirror Screen, see Manually link a Mirror screen.
- After you have captured the screens, click the Done icon.
When you click the Done icon, all the captured Mirror Screens are saved within the Mirror Workflow.
- Enter a name for the Mirror workflow.
- A Mirror Workflow contains all the screens captured in the mirroring process.
- The Mirror Workflow is located under Mirror within the Whatfix Studio, enabling you to organize and manage the Mirror easily.
- Click the Back icon to return to the Mirror workspace in Whatfix Studio.
