Whatfix Mirror is an innovative solution that enables you to simulate any web application. Mirror Simulations facilitate various use cases, such as user training and onboarding.
End users can interact with the content directly in the Simulation. This supports user training and task completion in a controlled environment, ensuring tasks can be explored safely without causing errors in the live application.
- Before you begin capturing Mirror Screens, ensure Smart Context is configured on your application. This is required for using Whatfix Simulations effectively.
- If you plan to include Workflows within a Simulation, Whatfix uses Smart Context to automatically identify and link Workflows in the Simulation.
- The Mirror Workflows that you create appear in the Draft stage of the Whatfix Mirror Dashboard.
- Workflows that are in Ready and Production are not visible on Whatfix Studio.
Use the following steps to create a Whatfix Mirror:
Launch Whatfix Studio on your application.
Click Mirror.
- Click Start Mirroring.
Whatfix Mirror automatically links Mirror Screens during capture as you interact with the application. The process is similar to a screen recording, but Mirror captures individual screens instead of a video. To start a capture, simply interact with the web application, and Mirror links the screens in sequence.
- Enter a name for your Workflow.
Select the Create guidance flow for the Workflow checkbox to create a Flow for your Workflow. The Flow replicates the captured steps, and you can publish it for end-user guidance.
For more information, see Auto Flow Creation.
Click Create.
Select the UI element to capture the screen.
- Whatfix automatically organizes and links the captured Mirror screens within your Mirror Workflow and continues capturing screens as you progress.
- To define the flow of your content, select the relevant UI elements and perform the Workflow steps you want to train your end users on.
- Go to the next step you want to capture, and then repeat step 4.
Whatfix enables you to add additional screens to an existing Workflow. This helps when you identify additional steps in the Workflow that require user guidance after the initial capture.
If you want to add additional screens, click Add more screens.
- Each Mirror Screen is captured based on a single UI element.
- The selected UI element represents an interactive element in the web application. Clicking it may also trigger navigation or an action within the live web application. This is expected behavior, as the UI element selection process essentially interacts with the live application to define the capture area.
- Based on your requirement, you can select multiple UI elements as a sequence of screens. Whatfix then displays the screens in the order of capture. If you want to change the order of the Mirror Screens, see Manually link a Mirror screen.
- After you have captured the screens, click the Done icon.
- When you click the Done icon, all the captured Mirror Screens are saved within the Mirror Workflow.
- The Mirror Workflow appears under Mirror in Whatfix Studio and on the Mirror Dashboard for quick access and management.
- Click the Back icon to return to the Mirror Workspace in Whatfix Studio.
- After you create a Mirror, preview the Mirror to ensure your Workflow functions as required. For more information, see Preview a Mirror.
- Add or recapture Mirror screens and linking in the Workflow as required. For more information, see Add a Mirror screen to a Mirror Workflow and Recapture a Mirror Screen.
- Share the Mirror to make it accessible to your end users. For more information, see Share Whatfix Mirror.
