Whatfix Mirror is an innovative solution that enables organizations to simulate any web application. The simulations can then be used for various use cases such as training, onboarding, and so on.
End users can interact with the content within a simulated environment. This facilitates user training and task completion as it provides step-by-step guidance in an isolated environment. This eliminates the risk of unwanted errors in the live application.
Mirror also supports DAP content.
Use the following steps to create a Whatfix Mirror:
Prerequisite:
Define the target Whatfix Mirror Workflow which is, outline the step-by-step procedure before you create a simulation of your web application. By defining the target workflow and its steps, you ensure that the mirrored environment replicates the workflow accurately.
-
Log in to the application that you want to simulate and then launch Whatfix Studio.
-
Click Mirror.
-
Click Start Mirroring.
Mirror Screen are auto linked as you perform the Whatfix Mirror Workflowsteps when creating the Whatfix Mirror. The capture process functions similarly to a screen recording. To start screen capture, simply begin performing the desired interactions with the web application. The Mirror will automatically link the Mirror Screen.
- Select the UI element to capture the screen.
The captured screens are automatically linked within your Mirrored Application. Select the relevant UI elements to define the flow of your content and then perform the workflow steps you want to train your end users on.
Whatfix automatically captures the necessary screens as you progress.
- Go to the next step you want to capture and then repeat step 4.
Whatfix Mirror enables you to add additional screens to an existing Mirror Folder. This caters to situations where you may have identified additional steps within your workflow that require user guidance after the initial mirroring is completed.
If you want to add additional screens, click Add more screens.
- Each Mirror Screen is captured based on a single UI element.
- The selected UI element represents an interactive element in the web application. Clicking it may also trigger navigation or an action within the live web application. This is expected behavior, as the UI element selection process essentially interacts with the live application to define the capture area.
- Based on your requirement, choose to select multiple UI elements as a sequence of screens that are automatically linked in the same sequence as they are captured. Whatfix Mirror then displays the screens in the order of capture. If you want to change the order of the Mirror Screen, see Manually link a Mirror screen.
- Click the Done icon.
When you click the Done icon, all the captured Mirror Screen are saved within the Mirror Folder.
- Enter a name for the Mirror folder.
- A Mirror folder is a container that groups all the screens that are captured in the mirroring process.
- The Mirror folder is located under Mirror within the Whatfix Studio, enabling you to organize and manage the Mirror easily.
- Click the Back icon to return to the Mirror Main Page in Whatfix Studio.
To make the Whatfix Mirror available, create a Link content on the Whatfix Dashboard and push it to Production. The published Link acts as a placeholder for the Mirror Link to work.
