Plan before you create a Mirror
Before you create a Simulation in Mirror, outline the step-by-step procedure of the target workflow in detail. This ensures the mirrored application accurately reflects the real user journey, including key actions, transitions, and decision points that replicate the actual workflow of the application.
Use keyboard shortcuts for faster screen capture
Use Shift + C
as a quick shortcut to capture screens in Mirror instead of relying only on element clicks or the Done icon on Whatfix Studio. This helps speed up Workflow creation.
Blur sensitive information in captured on Mirror screens to protect data
Use the Blur option in Mirror to hide confidential or personal information in captured images, such as revenue data or customer details that appear on Mirror screens. This protects sensitive information and helps learners focus on a given task. For more information, see Blur an image on a Mirror screen.
Edit text on Mirror screens to match training context
Use the Edit Text option in Mirror to change UI labels, placeholders, or on-screen instructions based on your training needs. For example, rename tab titles or field labels to reflect recent changes in terminology or application updates. For more information, see Edit text on a Mirror screen.
Create an associated tag for Mirror content
Create a specific tag, such as Mirror_Task_List
or LMS_Export
, and add it to the guidance content created on Mirror. Use these tags to group and identify Flows meant for your Mirror, especially when exporting to a Learning Management System (LMS) or separating them from Flows used on the base application.
Use Task Lists on the Mirror to organize training tasks
Create a Mirror screen for the homepage of your application to display the Task List, and then use the Link spiegeln to display the Task List. For more information, see Task List in Mirror.
Add Flows on the Mirror to better engage and guide users through the Mirror
Task Lists nudge users to perform specific tasks and help improve completion rates. This enables you to track task completion and drop-offs to measure training effectiveness. Use Flows in your Mirror to guide users through each task. For more information, see Flows and Add a Flow to a Task List.
Add a generic CSS Selector for Guidance on Mirror
Guidance content requires a consistent reference point to latch onto UI elements in Mirror. Since the live application and the Mirror environment may differ, add a generic CSS Selector [data-wfx-mirror-linked="true"]
to your Mirror. This CSS selector helps Whatfix locate and anchor the guidance content correctly within the Mirror.
Update the base application’s URL to avoid a mismatch error
A mismatch error occurs when the base application's URL doesn't match the shareable link of the Workflow on the Mirror Dashboard. Use the link from the same stage where the guidance was created to ensure it loads on the intended Mirror Bildschirm. For more information, see Stage mismatch and Mirror and Guidance Segmentation.
Track Workflow Analytics to measure user engagement
Use Mirror Analytics to track Unique users who started or completed a Workflow and monitor how each Workflow performs. These insights help measure training effectiveness and identify high-impact content. Mirror Analytics highlights the most accessed, completed, and abandoned Workflows based on total user interactions. For more information, see Mirror Dashboard Analytics.
Use Assessment Mode to evaluate learner readiness without guidance
Turn existing training Simulations into assessments to verify whether users can complete tasks without assistance. Mirror removes Guidance content during assessments and automatically tracks attempts, completion, and performance to validate user proficiency. For more information, see Assessment Mode and Mirror Analytics for Assessment Mode.
