Create DAP Guidance on Mirror

Article summary

Whatfix enables you to create Flows, Beacons, Pop-ups, Smart Tips, Blockers, Task Lists, and Self Help segments directly on Mirror simulations. This enhances the training experience by combining simulated workflows with interactive guidance for effective and consistent training.

Mirror URLs are stage-specific and change as the Mirror moves through Draft, Ready, and Production stages. When you create or preview Whatfix Guidance on Mirror, ensure that both the Mirror and the Guidance content are in the same stage. This alignment prevents stage mismatch and ensures content loads as expected.

Note:

  • When you move the Mirror to a new stage such as Draft, Ready, or Production, update the corresponding Guidance widget URL on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard to match the Mirror URL for that stage. This ensures that the Guidance content loads correctly in the Mirror environment and prevents stage mismatch errors. For more information, see Stage mismatch error.

  • To test and preview Guidance content on Mirror, you must use Preview Mode. Preview Mode is used only in the Draft and Ready stages. It is not required once the content is published, since published Guidance appears directly on the Mirror. For more information, see How to use Preview mode to review content?

Info:

Whatfix recommends moving the Mirror to the Ready stage before creating Guidance content on the Mirror.

DAP on Mirror Creation flow

Expand the following accordions for more details:

Step-1: Create Guidance in Mirror

Use the following steps to create Guidance in Mirror:

  1. Access the Mirror: Open the Mirror for the Workflow where you want to add Guidance content. Use the relevant Mirror URL for creation and preview actions based on the current stage. Mirror URLs differ across stages, so ensure that both the Mirror and the Guidance content are in the same stage before proceeding.

  2. Launch Whatfix Studio: Launch Whatfix Studio on the selected Mirror Screen of the Workflow. This enables you to create, edit, and manage all Whatfix Guidance content directly within the simulated Workflow.

  3. Select the Content or Widget you want to create: Choose the type of Guidance content you want to create, such as a Flow, Pop-up, Smart Tip, Beacon, or Task List, depending on how you want to guide your users through the Mirror simulation.

  4. Create the Content or Widget: Add titles, steps, element selections, and any instructional text required for the selected widget. For example, capture step-by-step actions for Flows or highlight key elements for Smart Tips.

Step-2: Configure Visibility Rules and Preview

Use the following steps to configure visibility rules and preview Guidance content on a Mirror:

  1. Configure Visibility Rules: Define when and where the Guidance content should appear. You can set conditions based on page, element, or user role to deliver contextually relevant experiences. For more information, see Visibility and Display Rule Conditions.

  2. Preview the Content or Widget on Mirror: Use Preview Mode to check how the Guidance behaves within the Mirror environment. Confirm that it appears correctly and interacts as intended across all relevant screens. For more information, see How to use Preview mode to review content?

Step-3: Publish and Share

Use the following steps to publish and share the Mirror with Guidance content:

  1. Publish the Mirror: After you test and verify all Guidance content, publish the Mirror to move it to the Production stage. This makes the final version of the simulation available for your users. For more information, see Publish Whatfix Mirror.

  2. Update the Visibility Rules for the Content or Widget: After publishing the Mirror, update the visibility rules for the corresponding Guidance content on the Whatfix Guidance Dashboard to match the Mirror URL for the Production stage. This ensures that the content displays correctly and prevents stage mismatch errors.

  3. Publish the Content or Widget: Publish both the Guidance content and the corresponding Mirror Workflow. Once published, the Guidance will appear directly on the Mirror without requiring Preview Mode. For more information, see Push all Whatfix content and widgets to Production

  4. Share the Mirror URL: After you publish content or widget and the Mirror, share the Mirror with your users to provide access to the finalized guided experience. For more information, see Share Whatfix Mirror.

    Note:

If you move the Mirror back from Ready to Draft, the Mirror URL changes accordingly. While previewing, update the visibility rules for the Guidance content URLs on the Guidance Dashboard to ensure they load correctly on the Mirror.
