Article summary

Use In-app Messages like Pop-ups, Drawers, Full Screen, and Bottom Sheet as information widgets to inform your users about events that need their immediate attention. These In-app Messages enable you to show personalized offers and make in-app announcements without requiring an update to your app.

Use In-app Messages to show important messages

Use In-app Messages to show your end users important messages about your product or feature. For example, you can inform your users about an upcoming downtime and schedule a Pop-up.

Choose the right template for your In-app Messages

You don't have to start from scratch when you create new In-app Messages. For example, instead of creating a new design every time you create a Drawer, use an existing template.

Save your In-app Messages as Templates

If you find yourself using the same design multiple times, then save your project design as a template. For example, if you always create Bottom Sheets with similar configurations, then save your design as a template and re-use it the next time you create a Bottom Sheet. For more information, see Save Project Designs as Templates.

Create In-app Messages in a stable environment

Create In-app Messages on production/live apps that are stable and not constantly updated by code changes. If the underlying code of your app is changed, it may break any In-app Messages that you may have created.

Author clear and concise content

Use simple words and sentences while creating Whatfix content. Keep the description in your In-app Messages brief and to the point.

Choose an appropriate theme for the In-app Messages

Choose the best available In-app Messages theme to ensure that their design matches your app’s UI. Use contrasting colors that make the In-app Messages noticeable on your app. This is to ensure that they are not lost in your interface because they can't be distinguished from the underlying app.

Preview the In-app Messages before pushing it to Production

Once you are done creating an In-app Message, test it using the Preview mode. Whatfix Mobile also recommends that you check the In-app Messages once they're live to ensure that they appear as expected to your end users. For more information, see Preview Projects on a Device.
