Note:
Session Replay is a Beta feature. To enable this feature, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Whatfix enables you to filter Session Replays to access specific recordings based on engagement with Whatfix Inhalt, User Actions, and Defined Autocaptured events, or by User ID.
When you filter by specific events, Whatfix displays only the Session Replays in which those events occurred within the specified timeframe. However, within each replay, the Event stream panel continues to show all User Actions and Defined Autocaptured events the user engaged with during that session, not just the filtered event. This helps you understand the full sequence of interactions before and after the filtered activity.
For example, you can filter Session Replays by User ID to view all sessions for a specific user who submitted a support ticket, helping you trace their exact journey within your application.
Use the following steps to filter Session Replays:
On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, click Tracking.

Click Sessions.

Set the required timeframe (for example, 7D, 30D, 90D, or custom date range) to view the sessions captured within the selected time period.

Under Event Filter, click Add event filter and select an Event filter. For more information, see Filter events using Event Filters and Breakdown in Trend Insights.

Expand the following accordion for more details:
Event Filters
Events, both Guidance (Default) and App (Custom), contain filters to narrow down events based on event properties, such as Segment Name or Content Title. Event breakdowns enable you to group and visualize filtered events by a specific event property, such as Segment Name or Content Title.
The following are the Event Filters and Breakdowns available in Session Replay:

The User Id filter is case-sensitive. Ensure you add the exact User ID value to get the data.
Use a comma to search for multiple User IDs.
To filter based on a User ID that contains a comma, for example Doe, John, enclose the User ID in quotes "Doe, John" while searching. Add a comma after the quotes when filtering for more than one User ID with a comma.
To exclude a User ID that contains quotes, for example "John", do not place a comma between the quotes.

Variables
Reserved variable 1
Whatfix reserves two variables as placeholders for additional properties required when sending event data. Reserved Variables are those properties captured along with Guidance events and App events. They are dependent on events and user interaction and capture data only when all necessary conditions are met. For example, set up a ‘session count’ Reserved Variable that gets incremented every time the user logs in. For more information, contact support@whatfix.com. Data is filtered based on these additional properties.
Reserved variable 2
Whatfix reserves two variables as placeholders for additional properties required when sending event data. Reserved Variables are those properties captured along with Guidance events and App events. They are dependent on events and user interaction and capture data only when all necessary conditions are met. For example, set up a ‘session count’ Reserved Variable that gets incremented every time the user logs in. For more information, contact support@whatfix.com. Data is filtered based on these additional properties.
Analytics Variable
Filters data based on the captured Analytics Variables, such as Context Variables and User Attributes configured in Advanced Customisation. For more information, see Configure Analytics Variables.
