Whatfix enables you to edit an Event Attribute after creation.
For example, every time your application undergoes a UI change, you do not have to recreate the Event Attribute. Reselect the Event Attribute, rename the Attribute, and more, using the edit functionality.
Use the following steps to edit Event Attributes:
-
On the Whatfix Analytics dashboard, click Tracking.

-
Click Events.

Hover your cursor over the User Action or Event Attribute that you want to edit, and then click the Edit icon.

Info:
The User Action or Event Attribute edit screen opens.

For more information on editing a User Action, see Edit a User Action.
Go to the Event Attributes section and make the following changes to the Event Attributes captured from other elements on the page:
Preview the Event Attribute
Edit the name of the Event Attribute
Delete the Event Attribute

Note:
To perform other edit functionalities on Event Attributes, such as adding a new event attribute, reselecting elements, encrypting Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and more, you need to access the application page where the Event Attribute is created.
You also cannot edit the Event Attribute captured from the same element on the dashboard. You need to access the application page where the Event Attribute is captured to make any changes.
To make other changes that require Studio to be opened on the application, click Launch live edit.

Note:
If you've made any changes on the edit screen in the dashboard, click Save and go to save your changes and open Studio on the application page.

Click Discard changes to discard any changes and open Studio on the application page.
If you want to add any new Event Attribute, click Add element. This opens Studio on the application page and enables you to create a new Event Attribute as usual.

Once the application launches, on Studio, click the Action that you want to edit.

In the From the associated elements section, click the Edit icon to edit the Event Attribute.

Info:
Make the following changes to the Event Attributes:
Edit the Attribute name
Reselect the element
Select or clear the Encrypt personally identifiable info (PII) checkbox
Edit the Capture Rules
Capture more Event Attributes
Delete Event Attributes
For more information, see Capture Event Attributes.
The User Action can be edited as usual. For more information, see Edit a User Action.
Make the necessary changes, and then click Save Action.

Note:
After editing a User Action or Event Attribute, ensure you push the User Action back to Production to start capturing the engagement data.
