Create a Quiz

Article summary

Whatfix enables the creation of Quizzes to ask end users a list of questions. Each question can have multiple options as answers. End users can select one of the options and then choose to see the correct answers after completing the entire Quiz. Quizzes assess your end users' knowledge and level of understanding. It also helps to create relevant Whatfix content to address the knowledge gap.

  • As part of the Standard plan, Whatfix enables editing the text of the questions present in the Usability and NPS templates. You cannot add, edit, delete, reorder, add conditions to your questions, or mark a question as optional.
  • As part of the Premium plan, Whatfix enables complete editing capabilities such as to add, edit, delete, reorder, add conditions to your questions, and mark a question as optional.

Quiz creation is a two-step process:

Step 1: Create a Quiz

Use the following steps to create a Quiz:

  1. Log in to the application where you want to create content, and then launch the Whatfix Studio.

  2. Under WIDGETS, click Survey.

  1. Select the Quiz template.

  2. Enter a name for the Quiz.

The Quiz name is solely for your (content author's) reference and is not visible to the end user.

  1. To edit the header, hover your cursor over the header section and then click the header.

  2. Make the following configurations to your Quiz header.

    • Enter the Title.
    • Enter the Description.
    • Change the Background color, Text color, and select the checkbox to show '*' for the mandatory questions according to your requirement.

  3. In the Questions section, enter the question.

Note

The Quiz can only be edited in the Draft and Ready stages.

  1. Select the Question type using the dropdown.

Two question types can be added in a Quiz:

  • Single choice
  • Multiple choice

  1. Add options for the question, and then select the correct answer.

Use the + Add Feedback button to provide the end user an explanation of the answer.

  1. To add the next question, click + Add Question.

  2. In the End Message section, choose the Pass Percentage.

The messages displayed can be modified.

  • The Success Message displays when the end user passes the quiz.

  • The Failure Message displays when the end user fails the quiz.

  • Both message types contain a Message field that is displayed in large text, and a Subtext field that is displayed in smaller text.

  1. On the Studio, under CONTROL, the following toggles can be enabled:
  • Dismissable: Enable the toggle to give your end users' an option to close or dismiss the Survey.
  • Minimize: Enable the toggle to give your end users' an option to minimize the Survey and defer taking the Survey.
  • Allow anonymous Responses: Enable the toggle if you don't want to collect the responder's data.
  • Don't show me again: Enable the toggle to include a don't show me again button. Once the end user clicks it, the Survey won't be shown again irrespective of the occurrence set.
  • Position quiz: Enable the toggle to change the positioning of the survey.

If the end user enters a partial response and minimizes the Survey, the partial response is not saved.

  1. Click Save.

The Quiz is saved as a draft on the Dashboard. Resume editing the Quiz using the Dashboard.

Step 2: Configure the Quiz

  1. On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Widgets.

  2. Click Surveys.

  3. Hover your cursor over the required Survey, and then click the Edit icon.

  1. Click Set Visibility Rules.

  2. Set the Where visibility rule for the Quiz to appear.

  3. Set the When Visibility Rule for the Quiz.

Note

Once the user responds to the Quiz, the Quiz won't be shown again irrespective of the set occurrence.

  1. Click Save.
