Self Help Segments enable you to show different content to different groups of users and on different pages. For example, your segments can be configured to show different content on your application's home page and its FAQs page. Further, using multiple segments on the same page, different content can be shown to different kinds of end users. For instance, the content displayed to an administrator can be different to the content displayed to a basic user. These configurations can be made using a segment's Visibility Rules.
Use the following steps to create a Self Help segment:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Widgets.
-
Click All widgets.
-
Click Create widget.
-
Click Self Help.
-
Enter the segment name.
-
In the Add Content section, click Add Content.
-
Select the content that you want to add in Self Help using the checkboxes or use the Select By Tags option to add content using Tags.
-
After adding the content, click Okay.
- Only the first 20 pieces of content in your segment, known as the default listing, are displayed to end users in the Self Help widget.
- To configure the count of content displayed to end users, contact support@whatfix.com.
-
Create static content like images, videos, pdfs, etc., and groups within Self Help using the Create button. For more information, see Self Help groups.
-
Add your existing content repository to show repository content as links in Self Help, using the Integrate Repository link. For more information, see Integrate your Content Repository with Whatfix.
-
To add all the content created on your account to the Self Help segment, enable the Add all existing and future content items toggle. Enabling this also adds any newly created content to Self Help automatically.
- In the Set Rules section, set the Visibility rules of the segment. Visibility rules determine where and to whom your segment shows. For more information, see Visibility Rules.
- To insert a new condition in between two existing rules, click the plus icon next to the condition below which you want to place the new condition.
- Drag and drop certain rules to rearrange them in the desired order.
- Combine Visibility Rules using the And and Or conditions. To know how to use AND/OR Conditions inside a Self Help widget, see How to use AND and OR Conditions inside Widget Segments.
-
Under Set Rules, in the Search Scope tab, set the search scope of the segment. The Search Scope of a segment determines what content shows in its search results. For more information, see Search Scope of a Self Help segment.
-
Click Save.
-
For your segment to be visible to end users, you must push it to Production.
-
