As per the latest updates to Manifest V3 (MV3), you cannot use the Preview mode to preview Advanced Customization (AC) code changes on Whatfix Studio.

However, Whatfix enables you to test any AC code used to achieve certain out-of-the-box capabilities using the Preview extension.

Whatfix enables you to download the Preview extension using Whatfix Studio. This needs to be done only once, after which the Preview extension is updated automatically.

What are the timelines of the MV3 updates on Whatfix?

Whatfix will release its MV3-compliant Studio extension by June 1, 2024. Consequently, Whatfix will not be supporting Advanced Customization's Code Editor for new accounts created after June 1, 2024.

How can I use Whatfix’s Preview extension?

You have to install Whatfix’s Preview extension to preview AC code changes.

Will I be able to mass deploy Preview extensions to certain sets of users?

Yes, you can mass deploy Preview extension to your set of content creators. Contact your IT team to mass deploy the Preview extension.

Can I generate Preview Extension for accounts without AC code?

No, the presence of AC code is needed to generate the Preview extension. In case you don't have any AC code, you can either use the Preview mode of the Whatfix Studio to test your content.

Do I need to update the Preview extension every time there is a change in the AC code?

The need to update the Preview extension varies based on how the extension is installed. If you have installed the extension using ZIP due to any CSP constraints, you need to re-generate the extension every time there is an AC code change. If you've installed the extension using CRX or PowerShell, reach out to support@whatfix.com to enable auto-update.

How long does Whatfix take to update the Preview extension?

If auto-update is enabled your account, then it takes around 10-30 minutes to update the Preview extension once there is any content or AC change in your account.

Whatfix Preview extension is best installed from the Whatfix Store. Whatfix store provides faster auto-updates, a better performance, and an overall streamlined deployment process.
