Once Whatfix releases its Manifest V3 compliant extension, if your account relies on Advanced Customization (AC) code for certain features, those specific capabilities won't be visible in preview mode within the Whatfix Studio extension. However, you can use Whatfix’s Preview extension to bypass MV3 so that the AC code is available along with other content for testing.
Whatfix enables you to use Whatfix Studio to install the Preview extension. This needs to be done only once, after which the Preview extension is updated automatically. For more information, see FAQs about Preview Extension.
How does the Preview extension differ from the Preview mode of the Studio extension?
The Preview mode of the Studio extension is used to review and see how your content and widgets appear on your application before the content is in the Production stage. The Preview extension, however, enables you to preview AC code or content that is affected by it. Without the Preview extension, content creators cannot test any AC code.
The Preview extension works in tandem with the Preview mode of the Studio extension to test all content, widgets, and AC code. Once you click the preview icon, if the Preview extension is installed, any content and AC capabilities can be viewed.
How is the Preview extension different from the Developer extension?
You can continue using the Developer extension to test AC code. However, Whatfix recommends you to switch to Preview extension for the following reasons:
- Developer extension works only as a standalone extension and not in tandem with Studio's Preview mode. The Preview extension works together with the Studio's Preview mode and ensures that you can review all your content from a single action.
- Developer extension does not have auto-update capabilities. The Preview extension supports auto-update in case of any change in AC code.
- Developer extension doesn't support org mode. This means for each individual ENT, you need to install a separate extension. The Preview extension remains the same for all ENTs in your org, simplifying the deployment and maintenance.
