An emulator is a hardware or software that enables a computer system to behave like another computer system. You can use an Emulator to create/test Whatfix Mobile content when you don't have access to the mobile devices for which you're creating content. You can generate a QR Secret to connect with your Emulator to stream and capture app screens and to preview your in-app experiences. You can use the QR Secret to connect your Emulator with Whatfix Mobile instead of scanning the QR code.

Step 1: Generate QR Secret to stream and capture screens in your Emulator

On the Whatfix Mobile Dashboard, select the App in which you want to create your project.
To create a new project, click New.
Based on your use case, select your Project Type. For this example, let's consider a Tooltip.
Enter a name for your project.
Enter the App Version or select the App Version using the dropdown.

Ensure that you add the correct app version from the app build that was integrated with the Whatfix Mobile SDK. Often developers use the dev/staging build to integrate any third-party SDK. For more information, see What is an App Version?

Click Create.
To connect your Emulator with the Whatfix Mobile Studio, click Using emulator? to generate the QR Secret.
Enter the generated QR Secret in your Emulator.

Step 2: Generate QR Secret to preview content in your Emulator

Whatfix Mobile enables you to preview the in-app experience you create using an Emulator before publishing it. You can generate the QR Secret to preview your in-app experience using two ways.

Using the Whatfix Mobile Dashboard

On the Whatfix Mobile Dashboard, select the App in which you have created your Project.
Go to the Project you want to preview, and then click the More icon.
Click Preview in device (Code) to generate the QR Secret
To connect your project with the Emulator and preview content, enter the QR Secret in your Emulator.

Using Whatfix Mobile Studio

On the Whatfix Mobile Dashboard, select the App in which you have created your Project.
Click the Project you want to preview,
On the Whatfix Mobile Studio, click the Preview in device icon.
Click Using Emulator? to generate QR Secret
To preview your in-app experience, enter the QR Secret in your Emulator.
