Whatfix enables you to customize the appearance and behavior of the Self Help widget to align with your application's design. Customization includes updating the widget's icon, position, animations, interaction settings, personalizing content, and more, to provide a seamless experience for your users.

Customizations in Improved Self Help

Improved Self Help is a Beta feature. To enable Improved Self Help on your dashboard, contact support@whatfix.com. Improved Self Help provides an enhanced and revamped end-user experience.
The Improved Self Help widget offers an enhanced experience for your users and is highly customizable. Configure its appearance, behavior, integrations, and Smart Features to comply with brand guidelines and meet your users' needs.

Note:
To ensure that your Improved Self Help is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliant, Whatfix recommends selecting colors and themes according to the WCAG guidelines.
Use the following steps to customize your Improved Self Help segment:
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Style.

Click Self Help.

Customize the Appearance of Self Help
Modify the look and feel of the Improved Self Help widget and its Floating Action Button (FAB). Control the widget's theme, layout, and color scheme to align with your application's design.
Customize the following aspects of the Improved Self Help widget:
Visual Theme for Self Help Panel, Header, and FAB: Choose between Light, Dark, or System default modes for the widget's panel. Customize the colors, text, and icons for both the widget's header and the FAB.

Layout and Spacing: Adjust the corner radius, content layout (Detailed or Minimal), and spacing between elements.

Customize the Orientation of Self Help FAB
Set a default position for the FAB and enable users to drag and drop it to a new location on their screen.

Capture User Attention in Self Help
Draw users' attention to the Improved Self Help widget using subtle animations and onboarding messages for first-time users.
Icon Animation: Animate the FAB with effects such as Ripple, Flash, or Pulse to make Improved Self Help more noticeable. For more information, see Animate the Self Help Tab.

Onboarding Nudge: Display a tooltip message the first few times users see the widget to introduce them to its purpose.

Configure the Behavior of Content Launched from Self Help
Define how different types of Whatfix content launch when users click content inside the Self Help widget.
PDFs and Links: Configure links and PDF files to open in a new tab or the same window.
Flows: Choose to launch Flows on the same page, in a new tab, or as a Pop-up or Slideshow.

Integrate Support Channels
Integrate your existing support channels directly into the Improved Self Help widget, ensuring a unified experience for your users to access help.
Support Tickets, Email, and Chat: Add options for users to raise a support ticket, send an email, or start a live chat session. To enable these integrations, see IntegrateTicketing, Email Support, and Live chat when Self Help search result is empty.

Chatbot: Embed a chatbot directly within the widget by providing your chatbot's URL. For more information, see Integrate Chatbot in Improved Self Help.

Collect User Feedback
Gather valuable insights from your users by enabling a feedback form in Improved Self Help. Use this form to collect feedback on your Improved Self Help content or the underlying application itself.

Customize the feedback form to:
Add predefined feedback categories using a dropdown.
Require users to enter their email address.
Enable users to capture and attach screenshots.
Set up email notifications to be sent instantly, daily, or weekly to a list of recipients when new feedback is submitted. For more information, see Feedback.
Enable Smart Features: QuickRead and Personalization
In Improved Self Help, enable QuickRead and personalize content for your end users based on their content usage history.
QuickRead: Provide AI-powered summaries of help content to end users' search queries within the Self Help widget. For more information, see QuickRead - Summarized Answers in Self Help.

Personalization: Tailor the content displayed in the Improved Self Help widget based on each user's content history. For more information, see Personalization in Self Help.

Customizations in Old Self Help
Note:
To ensure the Self Help widget is WCAG compliant, Whatfix recommends selecting colors and themes according to the WCAG guidelines.
Use the following steps to customize an Old Self Help segment:
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Style.

Click Self Help.

In the Appearance section, make the following configurations:
Change the widget label and text color in the minimized state.
Define the widget position.
Show or hide the header label.
Change the color of the close icon.
Change the widget header label and text color in expanded state.
Change the background color.
Change the content text color.
Change the content background color.
Change the search bar background color.

In the Attention section, make the following configurations:
Change the widget animation and the frequency of display.

Change the onboarding themes.
Change the button text, background color, and text color.

Enable or disable the onboarding message when your users open the Self Help widget.
Edit the onboarding message.
Choose to display the onboarding message on Self Help in an opened or closed state.
Change the number of times the onboarding message is shown to your end users.

Note:
When enabled, the onboarding message is displayed to all your end users (not just new users) for the set number of times. For more information, see Animate the Self Help Tab.
In the Interaction section, make the following configurations:
Select how you want to execute links.
Select how you want to execute Flows.

Note:
For more information, see Configure Content Interaction in Self Help.
In the Support section, make the following configurations:
Enable or disable email, chat, and ticketing support.

Note:
Link email, chat, and ticketing support when your end users get no results in Self Help.
In the Smart features section, enable QuickRead and Personalization for your end users based on their content usage history.

Click Save.
Note:
Preview the changes made using the Preview mode on Studio before publishing the content and making it available for your end users.
Additionally, Whatfix enables you to test Advanced Customization code changes using Preview extension.
Once previewed, you must perform a Push to Production for these changes to reflect for your end users.
