Create Whatfix reports in Google Analytics (GA4): Beacon Loaded

In Google Analytics (GA4), reports have to be created manually to visualize the Whatfix events analytics data. The following article shows you how to create a sample Beacon Loaded report. The process to create other reports is similar but the Dimensions and the Metrics change as per the report.

Use the following steps to create the report:

  1. Go to your GA4 account.

  2. On the navigation panel, click Explore.

  3. Click the Blank template.

  4. Enter the Exploration Name, that is, the report name. In this example, we’re creating a report for Beacon loaded.

  5. Select the TECHNIQUE as Free form using the dropdown.

  6. Go to DIMENSIONS, and then click +.

  7. In the Select dimensions section, search for the following dimensions:

  • flow_title
  • Page path and screen class
  • User
  1. Select the checkbox next to the dimensions and then click Import.

  2. Go to METRICS, and then click +.

  3. In the Select metrics section, search for the following metrics:

  • Views
  • Total users
  1. Select the checkbox next to the metrics, and then click Import.

The following image shows you how the DIMENSIONS and METRICS look like after you add them.

  1. Go to ROWS and then drag and drop or select the following imported dimensions.
  • flow_title
  • Page path and screen class
  • user

  1. Go to VALUES and then then drag and drop or select the metric as Total users.

  1. Go to FILTERS and then drag and drop or select dimension or metric.

  2. Add the following filter:

  • Dimension: flow_title
  • Select match type: does not exactly match
  • Enter expression: -
  1. Click APPLY.

  2. To add another filter, drag and drop or select dimension or metric, and then add the following details:

  • Dimension: Page path and screen class
  • Select match type: matches regex
  • Enter expression: /beacon/(clicked|loaded).*
  1. Click APPLY.

  • The analytics report gets created with the relevant data.

  • The data can be visualized as required.

  1. Click the Share exploration icon to share the report with other users.

  • The report gets saved automatically.
  • Go to Explore to view the created report.
