The new translation experience is a Beta feature. To enable this experience, contact support@whatfix.com.
Whatfix enables you to auto-translate Whatfix content in different languages and reduces the manual effort spent on translating content by a Translator or third-party tools or services. Whatfix enables you to auto-translate individual or multiple Whatfix content using the Whatfix UI.
-
Whatfix uses Microsoft Machine Translation Services to auto-translate content. The table in language supported by Whatfix shows the languages you can add and manage translations on the Whatfix Dashboard, but there is a difference in the languages supported for auto-translation. To view the list of languages that are supported for auto-translation, see Microsoft Translator Language Support.
-
Whatfix auto-translates content based on the primary language of your content.
The new translation experience enables you to auto translate multiple content in one go and translate specific content seamlessly, saving you time, increasing translation quality and usability. Previously, you could only translate content individually.
Use the following steps to translate Whatfix content:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.
-
Click Translations.
-
In the Translations section, select the language.
-
In the dropdown, select the Content type for which you want to translate content.
-
Click the content that you want to translate.
-
Click Translate all.
To translate specific labels, select the fields you want to translate, and then click Translate selected.
When content is out of sync, specific fields that require translation appear highlighted. The highlight disappears when you edit those fields or manually change the status to Translated.
-
In the confirmation pop-up, click Translate.
-
Verify the translated content.
-
Click Save.
Use the following steps to translate multiple Whatfix Content:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.
-
Click Translations.
-
In the Translations section, select the language.
-
In the dropdown, select the Content type for which you want to translate content.
-
Select the content you want to translate.
You can select and translate up to 100 content items at once.
-
Click the Translate icon.
-
In the confirmation pop-up, click Translate.
The content in translation appears with a Translating status:
Once the auto-translation completes, the translation status displays Review pending. Ensure you review the content and perform a push to Production to see the latest translated content on your application. For more information, see Translation Status.
Use the following steps to auto-translate content:
-
On the Whatfix Guidance dashboard, click Settings.
-
Click Translations.
-
Click the language file you want to auto-translate.
-
Go to the content you want to auto-translate.
-
Click Translate all to translate the entire content.
-
In case you have already translated certain fields of your content and you want to translate selective fields of your content, select Choose fields to translate option using the dropdown, and then select the fields you want to translate.
-
After selecting the fields you want to translate, click Translate selected to auto-translate those fields.
- Once you have auto-translated the content, at the top-right, click Save.
As Whatfix uses a machine translator, it is recommended that you review the translated content before pushing it live for your end users. You can validate the auto-translated content by checking the translated content, which is shown next to the content that is in the default language.
- You can only auto-translate the content that is in the Draft and Ready stages.
- You can auto-translate only the text of the content. Images and videos cannot be auto-translated.
