Create Walkthrough Checklist

The Walkthrough Checklist enables you to create a list of to-do tasks for your users to help them kickstart their onboarding process.

Create and configure your Walkthrough Checklist using the following steps:

Step 1: Create a Walkthrough Checklist project

  1. On the Whatfix Mobile Dashboard, select the App in which you want to create your project.

  2. To create a new project, click New.

  1. In the Onboarding & Training section, click Walkthrough Checklist.

  1. Enter a name for your project.

  2. Enter the App Version or select the App Version using the dropdown.

    • Use the latest version of your app to create Whatfix Mobile content. For more information on app version, see What is an App Version?.
    • Ensure that you add the correct app version from the app build that was integrated with the Whatfix Mobile SDK.
  3. Click Create.

  1. Your Walkthrough Checklist project gets created and you are redirected to the Whatfix Mobile Studio.

Step 2: Capture your Mobile app screens

You can capture screens as a one-time step using the Whatfix Creator widget. This widget enables you to capture app screens as screenshots and saves them to your Whatfix Mobile Dashboard to create in-app guidance content. It also enables you to preview your projects and test them before publishing.

Use the following steps to add a screen,

  1. On the Identify Screen window, click + Add screen.

  2. Select the screen where you want to create the content and click Add Screen.

Step 3: Identify the screen

After capturing the screen, you need to identify the unique elements on the screen and tag the screen so that the in-app experience you create appears on the right page.

  1. To identify the unique elements on the screen and to tag the right screen, click Add Identifier

  2. Click the desired element on the page.

Example: If you want to show a Walkthrough Checklist on the Home screen, you can choose the title Home, which can uniquely identify the screen and show the Walkthrough Checklist on the correct screen.

Click Add More to select more elements on the page and then repeat step 2.

Step 4: Design the Walkthrough Checklist

Use the following steps to design your Walkthrough Checklist:

  1. On the Whatfix Mobile Studio, select Design.

The Walkthrough Checklist appears on the Studio.

  1. Click the Flow-1 in the Walkthrough Checklist to add and configure your Walkthrough.

  2. Configure the Walkthrough Checklist using the following options:
    i) Add a name to your Walkthrough.

    ii) To add your Walkthrough in your Walkthrough Checklist, copy the Project ID of the Walkthrough project you've created and paste it in the Project ID section. For more information on how to find Project ID, see Initialize Project ID.

    iii) To connect your Walkthrough to the Walkthrough Checklist, click Connect.

    • The Walkthrough project you add to your Walkthrough Checklist should be the same App Version as the Walkthrough Checklist
    • Once you enter the valid Project ID, the Walkthrough is added to your Walkthrough Checklist.

    iv) Rearrange your Walkthroughs, add Walkthroughs, or delete Walkthroughs using the action bar.

    v) If you want to add more Walkthroughs, repeat Steps 4 ii) and 4 iii).

  3. Click Edit to add a name to your Walkthrough Checklist and change the Font of the Walkthrough Checklist. You can also add user property to personalize the experience for your end user.

  4. Click Done.

The Walkthrough Checklist you create is automatically saved.
