The new Whatfix Store, Whatfix's own self hosted repository for Chrome and Edge (Chromium) extensions reduces the time to update content to a few minutes as opposed to several hours to days it takes when using the Chrome Store.

Control Whatfix end-user feature updates
Enterprise Product Managers (or Software Admins) can test new features before deployment and can choose whether to deploy those features and when. For example, let's consider the back button in tooltips feature which was released a few months ago. Before Whatfix was auto-upgraded, you'd have had an option to review the feature, see how it impacts your end-users and then decide if you wanted to upgrade immediately or later. A feature that impacts only content creation, continues to get rolled out automatically to all users.
You get a notification whenever there’s a new update available. You can either choose to upgrade immediately or at a later time. See, Whatfix Platform Updates.

There are times when you need to give some information to your users after they select a flow, but before they start the first step. You can now configure your Flows to show a pop-up with this information before the first step of the Flow is run. This is referred to as Flow information pop-up.
An example where you might need to use this functionality is, when your users need to keep particular information ready before running a Flow so that they don't get stuck in the middle.
You can do this by adding the wfx_play_as_popup tag in the Editor when creating a Flow or on the Dashboard after creating Flows. See, Show information before running Flows.
Use Search Keywords to help users find content
Help your users find content even if the words they use in their search query aren't exactly the words used in your content. You can set up Search Keywords for each content in Whatfix.
For example, you can add "knowledge base" and "document" as Search Keywords for all the content related to "content repository." So, when a user searches for "knowledge base" or "document" in Self Help, the results include content related to "content repository." For more information, see Help users find content in Self Help using keywords.
Use multiple step completion rules together in Flows
You can now add multiple step completion rules to reduce Flow breaks. Earlier you could add only one step completion rule. The conditions are no longer radio buttons, but multi select checkboxes. Depending on the step, Whatfix enables this functionality wherever possible.
The step completion rules that are available are automatically limited by the kind of step completion rule you select. We've done this to limit the scope for errors that result in Flow failures.
Bring in articles from particular SharePoint folder to Self Help
Earlier, integrating SharePoint would sync all your SharePoint content. But now, you can choose to sync only articles from particular folders in your SharePoint account to Self Help.
To enable the SharePoint integration or change the syncing preference, write to us at support@whatfix.com.
Extension install analytics
Once the extension is deployed, and analytics are available, you can go to one of the following templates, select your account and view a dashboard of everything you wanted to know about how your extension is faring. You can see information about how many users have installed the extension, the type of browsers used, geography of installs, etc.
Email notifications when your flows fail
Beginning May 20th, you will receive a daily email notification with the list of Flows failed from the previous day. This email contains the following information
Name of the Flows failed linked to Flow Analytics
Number of times each Flow failed
Step number at which maximum failures happened
Author of the flow
The email is sent automatically every day between 4:30 AM - 5:00 AM Pacific Time and no additional configuration is required to receive the email.
If you don't want to receive these Flow Failure email notifications, you can use the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.
Select elements using right-click and left-click
In some apps, when you're trying to select an element using left-click it may also trigger the actual element click. In such scenarios, you can now use right-click on the mouse to select the element without triggering the element click. See, Unable to select element while creating Flows.
Q1 2020 Release
Last updated: April 14, 2020
Improved Content Versioning
Versioning is now completely automated. Every time you click the Save button, a version is created. You can now track all the changes made to content in a detailed chronological order. All versions will have the following details
What is the version number
When the version was created
Who made the update
Any previous version can be restored. When you restore a previous version, a copy of the version is made and added as the latest version. You can also download a PDF version of any version by clicking the View or PDF link depending on the type of content. For more information see Content Versioning.
New List View on Dashboard
Get the most out of your Dashboard with the new List View. You can view more content and detailed information about the content on the Whatfix Dashboard. For more information, see Customizing Dashboard List View.
An alternate to using CSS Selectors
If you find using CSS Selectors difficult when configuring Branching and Display Rules, you can now use the Select Element option. It is as simple as selecting an element on your app. You don’t need to go through the code.
In the Branching/Display Rules section, choose the Select Element option from the dropdown, click the element in your app, and then finish configuring the rule as usual.
Flow Automation
Automation helps you improve users productivity and minimize errors by automatically performing certain steps of a Flow. You can automate navigational clicks, selection of menu items, auto-fill form fields, etc.
You can automate one or more steps of a Flow. This works for both new as well as existing Flows.
To see how to enable and use this feature, see Flow Automation.
Data entry Automation
You can now auto populate text in a form using Smart Tips. The input text can be configured for Smart Tips that have already been created. For more information, see Data entry Automation.
Enter custom text inputs using URL parameters
You can auto input text in a form using an automated Flow by entering the variables in the URL of the Flow. Contact support@whatfix.com for additional information.
Capturing Successful Search Terms in Self Help
In addition to unsuccessful search terms, there's a new tab in Self Help analytics that displays a list of successful search terms. Find out what's working! And try to include more of those terms in your content. Successful Search terms actually tell you how much you are saving because every successful search is one less support call. For more information, see Self Help Analytics.
Analytics disabled by default in Self Hosted Modes
Unlike the JavaScript and extension deployment, analytics is now disabled by default for the Export model of deployment. Once you enable analytics, the clickstreams are sent to Google Analytics or custom analytics as enabled by the customer.
To enable analytics on the export model, see Enable Whatfix Analytics for Self-Hosted Mode.
New custom date filter for reports
You can now quickly select the Analytics data for last 30 days/90 days or define a custom time frame using a drop-down menu on the Analytics Dashboard. This should also show drastic changes to the performance of the dashboard load.
Customize Whatfix's default text
With Custom Labels, you can change the name of any label in the Whatfix UI so that it fits your organization's style and branding guidelines.
For example, you can change the default Self Help search field text that says Enter your search criteria here to something that is more suitable for your users. To see the full list of labels and know how to customize the text, see Renaming Custom Labels.
SharePoint integration
Bring your SharePoint content and show it along with other Whatfix content inside your application. Your users can search for articles in your knowledge base using Self Help.
To enable the SharePoint integration, write to us at support@whatfix.com.
Provide product feedback on the Dashboard
Now you can use the feedback feature available on the bottom left of the Dashboard to provide product feedback directly to the Product team at Whatfix. To know more, see Give product feedback.
Horizontal Auto Scroll supported
Whatfix has always supported vertical auto scrolling in Flows. Now, if the user needs to scroll horizontally to get to the next point of action, Whatfix automatically scrolls horizontally as well to the next actionable point.
No additional configuration is required to enable this ability.
Feature name changes
We’re changing the names of several features in Whatfix to fit them better to their current and future capabilities. Since their initial release, the features have evolved into something a little deeper and we want the names to reflect that. You can find all the changes in the table below.
The new terminologies will soon reflect in the Product as well. For further clarification, email us at support@whatfix.com.

Improved representation of Flow Exits
Whatfix analytics has been improved to show additional information on flow exits. See, Understand Flow exits for more info.
Text content character limit customizable
Text content was limited to 600 characters. Now this limit can be increased to something that suits the needs of your organization. Once changed, the change applies to all your text content.
To change the character limit, contact support@whatfix.com.
Tag names are more readable
Tag names accept upper case characters and spaces, thus making them more readable. There's no longer an error that appears when you use a space or an upper case character in a tag name.
Improved end user identification
The Whatfix algorithm has been updated to improve the ability to identify end user activity more accurately.
Create content on the All Content tab
You no longer need to go to the My Content tab to create new content. The Create content button is now available on the All Content tab.
The only exception is an Account Manager who has not installed the Editor extension. Instead of seeing the Create content button, they see the Install editor button.
Deploying Extension on individual browsers
For organizations that cannot mass deploy extensions, Whatfix enables you to create a URL that users can Go to and download the Whatfix extension. You can customize the landing page to suit your corporate branding. This method of deployment is supported for Chrome and Firefox browsers.
The installation process can be configured to launch the configured application once the extension is deployed on the browser.
For more information, see Deploy extension to individual user.
Summary Reports API
Added 20 new Report APIs to track usage and engagement related data for your Whatfix content. You can also, download the reports in .csv format by passing the API call in a web browser.
For more information, see Reports API.
User Specific API Token
Previously, developers used Enterprise specific API token for authorization. Now, it's been moved to User specific API Token so that each user can generate and renew their API token without affecting other users.
Omniture and Matomo supported in Custom Analytics
If you use analytics from Omniture or Matomo (formerly Piwik), then you can now integrate these tools to analyze how your Whatfix content is performing. This is done using Whatfix API.
For more information, see Integrate with Omniture Analytics and Integrate with Matomo.
